Sensor, you will never get anything fair when dealing with a Casino. They are only providing entertainment like any other venue in Toledo. It’s just the Casino, unlike other venues, lets you decide how much money the entertainment will cost you.

Hearing about this I wish I still had my boat in the Rossford marina. I pray that this helps the area and especially the waterfront which is what I love the best about the Toledo area.

Perhaps the Casino will spawn other new clubs and bars along the river where people can sample all that Toledo has to offer.Purchase anything overlooking the river now and it is bound to be a hit!

From where I am in South Toledo, it’s still going to take me 20-25 minutes and Greek Town being 45 -50 minutes. The real question will come down to “rakes” they get at the tables. All the Detroit casinos have terrible rakes and they are competing against each other. If the Toledo casino has worse rakes, I’ll make the drive up north the two-three times per year I play. If they’re better I’ll stay.

I personally would have liked to have seen it in the downtown area myself. It would have been better synergy having it there and would have made Downtown Toledo a great place to visit. The other side of the river just seems a bit too far for convenience for anyone who might want to make a day/evening of Toledo. I think if it was actually in Downtown people would go for dinner, watch a game, bars, and casino. With it being on the other side of the river it will probably be all of that except it will be ‘or’ casino. I’m not sure people are going to want to take water taxis, taxis, shuttles, or get in and drive again to do something else. I hope I’m wrong though, I hope they come up with an ingenious, convenient transportation to cross the river.

You can’t save people from themselves. Boy is that statement true. But I refuse to be a party to their destruction. Gambling is every bit as bad an addiction as alcohol and drugs.

Agree Chad. I think it will do well at its location, especially for out of town folks who dont want to drive around looking for it. I think it will be more attractive than driving to Detroit.

Patrick…water taxis would be a great thing. I think the East bank of the river will slowly come to life over the next 10 years.

I once thought the marina area would be a good location but visibility and easy access is crucial. People are fundamentally lazy and if it’s not visible or tricky to get to..people are not likely to bother. I’m thinking the casino will get a good deal of it’s trade from drive by traffic. People traveling through and on lunch hours etc. Being able to jump off and have it at the bottom of the ramps is a good location.

The city will get much needed revenue, which is a positive. i think that the marina district property would have been a better location, but the location selected isn’t awful. Hopefully there are water taxis from the casino to the docks and downtown. Over 1000 jobs when unemployment is over 12% is positive news. I used to be anti-casino, but realized that you can’t save people from themselves. The casino and the Great Lakes Maritime museum will be wonderful attractions on the east bank of the Maumee

I enjoy going to casinos occasionally.

Won’t be looking for a job there, because I have a career in another industry. Hopefully it creates some worthwhile jobs for others though…guess that will remain to be seen.

“Their casino” should have been located downtown in the Paramount block. That theater was true glitz in its time.
