Anonymous Donor Gives SUV to Local Mobile Food Pantry
Organization Can Continue Providing Food to Needy Families
TOLEDO, Ohio–April 6, 2010–Food For Thought, a local nonprofit group that helps feed the area’s less fortunate, received an anonymous donation of a vehicle to tow the organization’s mobile food pantry.
The generous donor contacted the organization after viewing a story reporting the need. The donor has requested to remain anonymous.
The new tow vehicle is a ¾ ton, 4X4 1999 Chevy Suburban. Food For Thought will be utilizing the new SUV to pull their mobile pantry. This is used to pick up food, deliver to five mobile pantry sites each month, and transport items to the Toledo downtown library every Saturday for distribution to the area’s homeless.
In addition to the wonderful donation, Food For Thought was contacted by local mechanic, John Bigelow, to repair their truck. It will be used as a back-up vehicle and to tow their larger trailer when needed.
Food For Thought is a local nonprofit organization serving Lucas County through multiple avenues. Beginning as a small Saturday morning gathering, Food For Thought now serves sack lunches, including their famous PB&J, to around 350 individuals every Saturday morning in downtown Toledo. Their choice mobile food pantry allows them to serve hundreds of families per month by providing a variety of food and resources to those that may not otherwise have access to a pantry. The Oregon food pantry housed in space donated by New Harvest Christian Church helped feed nearly 1000 families last month alone. For more information, please visit freelunchtoledo.com.

April 13th, 2010 at 10:01 pmI love feel good stories that will benefit many. I also love how some ppl. can give and don’t want praise for it. You know what you did was much needed and appreciate, no sense in over shadowing the giver, it’s the gift that counts.
