What can you expect so far on the May ballot?
In addition to the few races where there will actually be more than one person running for an office, there are several local issues and a few state issues we know are coming. At this point, for the May ballot in Toledo is Toledo Public Schools going for the .75% earned income tax issue though it’s expected that Toledo City Council will agree to a temporary .25% additional income tax and there will be an additional issue on the ballot similar to last year’s “Safety First.”
On the state side, thanks to the Dispatch:
Issue 1 proposes to renew Ohio’s Third Frontier program by authorizing $700 million more in bonds to fund high-tech business ventures, while Issue 2 would change the location of a proposed Columbus casino from the Arena District to the former Delphi Corp. auto-parts plant.
Actual ballot language is here.
Depending on what happens next, also courtesy of the Dispatch this may be on the May ballot:
A group hoping to put a referendum on the fall ballot regarding a proposal to add electronic slot machines will need more additional signatures than previously thought.
That’s because three county boards of elections reported late last week that they disqualified an additional 937 signatures because petition circulators are felons, Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner’s office said.
