Simpson new chairman of Lucas County Republican Party Executive Committee…
This in via email:
PAUL HOAG AND JEFF SIMPSON ELECTED TO LEADERSHIP OF THE LUCAS COUNTY REPUBLICAN PARTY
By a majority vote of the duly elected / appointed member of the Lucas County Republican Central Committee have elected Paul Hoag to serve as chairman of the central committee. Immediately there after members elected Jeff Simpson as Chairman of the executive Committee.
When asked for comment about these unprecedented turn of events Jeff Simpson stated “I am honored and humbled for the opportunity to serve the Lucas County Republican Party. I look forward to serving all Lucas County Republicans and working to recruit and elect qualified Republicans to all levels of government.”
Toledo Free Press has the release up also with a more detailed story to follow.
I was told from at least one person who attended tonight’s meeting that they believed former Lucas County Republican Party chairman Jon Stainbrook called the Fire Marshall because of capacity concerns, but the meeting was allowed to continue. I’ve also learned that Jon Stainbrook does not appear to have acknowledged the results of tonight’s vote.
Updated at 10:32 – FOX Toledo has coverage they’ve titled, “Confusion at Lucas Co GOP headquarters” — Simpson says he’s new leader, Stainbrook says he’s still in power…The Toledo Free Press story has also been updated to include comments from Stainbrook.
Finally!
December 21st, 2009 at 7:59 pmOut with the old, in with the new. Thank God for small favors.
December 21st, 2009 at 8:29 pmThank you Lord, sweet Jesus!!!!
December 21st, 2009 at 10:50 pmAfter reading the article by Shaun Hegarty, in regards to the quote by the little Stain-
“You have to understand what the meaning of a central committee meeting is,” Stainbrook said. “It’s to have a meeting about something that’s on the card that is mailed out by the law. That’s what we did…”
Really Jon??? Then why is it you not only didn’t mail to all CC members, but also refused entry to a couple tonight, according to some sources in the know???
December 21st, 2009 at 11:19 pmThere was a motion to suspend the rules, from what I was told, which in most scenarios would allow something not on the agenda to be voted on. The ORC does allow for scenarios like this, it would be up to the State Central Committee to decide which is the “official” county party.
But refusing entry to those who were on the CC would indicate the rules were not being followed…
December 21st, 2009 at 11:33 pm“You have to understand what the meaning of a central committee meeting is,” Stainbrook said. “It’s to have a meeting about something that’s on the card that is mailed out by the law. That’s what we did. This was done by the bylaws and it was done properly. The after the fact, they thought it would be fun to have shenanigans and release a press release.”
Hey stainbrook – who is in charge of writing your comments? FIRE THEM IMMEDIATELY! Oops guess they have been replaced, no need for a nasty firing.
Now you really are just a skid mark on the history of Toledo! shenanigans, rotflmao!
December 21st, 2009 at 11:44 pmOoops, do I need to give the attribute for that statement? If so it came from Fox Toledo website. Sorry about that!
December 21st, 2009 at 11:45 pmI sincerely hope they have done what they needed to do under the bylaws and that nut case is legally removed from the Republican Party. He was an embarrassment to that party.
December 21st, 2009 at 11:53 pmGod knows since he lost his spokesman this summer he hasn’t been able to function, ie: the above quote. Amazing how pathetic the man is when it comes to his inability to speak the King’s English.
The English departments of Maumee Valley, Bowsher, and St. John’s must all be so proud, Jon. (admin delete)…IMHO.
December 21st, 2009 at 11:59 pmWatch block and the gang at the daily go after the Republican party and all those who dared overthrow their boy…that paper is becoming sooooo predictable.
Hey Alan B.~better get rid of that brother of yours managing your daily or your going to lose both Buckeye and your daddy’s paper…your daddy’s “other” baby is ruining your investments! Wake up man!!!
My mission is to get 100 people to drop both the paper and buckeye by January 1st of this year. And I only started last month! I’m at 37 for buckeye and 58 for the paper. If JRB isn’t gone by the 1st of the year, my goal for 2010 is 2000 each. I’m not having much difficulty since the Skeldon and YMCA attack…thanks for the help Mr. Publisher of the daily trash.
)
Hey Hem, how much loss to the bottom line is that????????????? Would ya do the math for me? That would be daily and sunday…
Mike
December 22nd, 2009 at 12:18 amP.S. Paul: I’ve heard I’m not the only one on this mission!
This is fantastic news!
December 22nd, 2009 at 4:16 amMike-
The amazing thing here is the lack of any reporting on the Blahs own website. I have it on good authority that Tom Troy was in attendance;
and, even if he wasn’t, why not have SOMETHING on the page….
yep, his little boy is lost… Poor Jon. Poor John.
December 22nd, 2009 at 4:22 amGood Morning All,
Interesting commentary (admin delete)…
But then you really weren’t inside. I was for a while, but not for the entire event.
Funny, the only thing I saw was two sides possibly changing roles. The hate is still there, the inability to work together still there, no common goals still there. Merely the cast of characters taking the roles of the opposition. Both sides are equally versed at role reversal! I mean, c’mon…even you are smart enough to know that none of these people on either side are going quitely into that good night.
Let me give you my prediction. All those folks that were in bed together last night will wake up, sober up and realize they still REALLY don’t like each other. (I say that figuratively, I have NO idea where he ended up last night.)
One cannot keep together a batch of distrusting turf lords with the common thred of ‘kill the guy in charge’.
Still…no substance…just more of the same hate mongering.
Ah…may we live in interesting times.
Merry Christmas.
mj
December 22nd, 2009 at 8:59 amNa Na Na Na, Na Na Na Na, Hey Hey Goodbye Stain!!!!
(and JRB)
December 22nd, 2009 at 9:12 amThere is an article in the Blade, Stainbrook blames Olman.
Mindy, as a Democrat these take overs are typically messy, unity is typically difficult though some do a better job pretending than others…
Merry Christmas to you too.
December 22nd, 2009 at 9:15 amFinally, “gone are the vestiges of the culture of corruption” — isn’t that something we used to hear from the little stainiac???
Let me tell ya something, I’d bet money that Bernadette Noe is sitting in the Keys right now with a well-deserved smug grin on her face.
December 22nd, 2009 at 9:51 amAND, probably thinking to herself ‘right back at ya, Jon’.
My now deceased father knew Lynn Olman fairly well, he was his insurance agent and they belonged to social organizations together, it’s a shame that a man who served our government for so many years as a State Representative as well as serving on boards, etc., is now only referenced in today’s daily paper as:
I can’t say I agreed with all of Olman’s actions as an elected representative but his accomplishments extend beyond how he is being described. Yet that’s how it works in Toledo…
December 22nd, 2009 at 10:06 amOne thing is certain Jon was not expecting people to show up to his meeting, as it sounds he had a room set up for about 20 people. Someone who prides himself on recruitment and is often quoted as saying “His record speaks or itself”. I think it does, and that it is obvious, that these so called conspirators were able to bring out about a hundred or so supporters to something that was meant to only have 20 of Jon’s friends at speaks for itself. Hopefully once all of this is said and done a chairman will emerge who is more concerned with electing qualified leaders. Not just about themselves being in the press and surrounding themselves with groupies and yes men.
Well mannered debate is vital to any organizations success. Hopefully someone will step up who will allow it and provide the atmosphere for orderly discussion. It says a lot that the LCRP is in a state, where they can not even provide a room to host their membership in.
December 22nd, 2009 at 10:16 amGood bye Shortsstain you won’t be missed!
December 22nd, 2009 at 11:49 am“yet that’s how it works in” the blade. The front page of today’s blade is a classic. Three of the four headlines are for stories that feature its most recent examples of advocacy “journalism.” Attempting to prop up this failure of a pseudo-republican, decrying the closing of the 55-year old, money-losing south Y, and giving a spotlight to Ben ” the champion of the ‘working’ class or pit bull puppies or whatever will garner a headline” Konop.
December 22nd, 2009 at 12:09 pmI heard about this on the news this morning and my first thought was I wondered what the reaction was going to be on GCJ.
It is a shame that the only thing that the Blade can come up with for Lynn Olman is his connection to Tom Noe. That card is getting old and does not show a favorable light on the paper.
December 22nd, 2009 at 12:13 pmIt still is highly irritating to me, that last night the former chairman and his associates refused to all a duly elected Central Committee member entrance and THREW HIM OUT!!!! His name was on the CC list roster, he even signed in. “Something is rotten in the state of Denmark”, as Marcellus said to Horatio.
Jon Stainbrook was on the television last night boasting how HIS meeting was done in accordance of all parliamentary rules and procedures, as well as the LCRP by-laws. Well, if that is the case, then read the following and tell me how he followed the rules;
ARTICLE V

“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it’s natural manure.” – Thomas Jefferson
The Stain definitely falls into the “manure” class and he is a dictator. I hope nobody is deluded into believing he will leave quietly. This will require the ORP, SOS, and probably a few court battles to finally remove the Stain. I just hope all parties are up to the fight.
December 22nd, 2009 at 1:01 pmJoel, you are so right on! How much more transparent can this paper/publisher get?
December 22nd, 2009 at 2:22 pmThe Blade article, while somewhat demeaning to Lynn Olman and the “anti-Stainbrook” crowd, presents an interesting dynamic. If the state central committee were to make the decision of chairmanship as they referenced after speaking with McClelland, Paul Hoag and Dee Talmage are the two state committee members from the Toledo area. Hoag will obviously side with Simpson, and as far as I know, Talmage is also in the “anti-Stainbrook” camp. Adding this to the current investigation of forgery on financial documents and the countless other situations involving Stainbrook, I can’t see how the state leadership of the GOP could side with him. Jeff Simpson is a solid conservative and a proud Republican that will serve Lucas County well. And if anything, at least his employment as a lawyer will save the party money on legal counsel
December 22nd, 2009 at 3:00 pmCV-
Not only is Jeff Simpson a solid conservative, he actually did some leg-work trying to help get Jim Moody elected, unlike the stain, who spent the majority of his time mulling ways to throw his own candidate under the bus, IMHO… support Collins by pa-tooty! (Well, that one came from an associate, not the Stain if memory serves me…
December 22nd, 2009 at 3:18 pmWhat I’d like to know is why the Blade first posted this story on their website this morning, and this can be confirmed with henri because I looked all over their site for this prop job, that it was listed under “Updated 5:59 am” when there was nothing on the blade site to indicate there was a story even posted?
How can you “update” a story that wasn’t even there, The Blade?
December 22nd, 2009 at 4:09 pmThat might have been a mistake, it now says updated at 12:25 p.m. It wasn’t added to their twitter until four hours ago and it was online as of 9:15 a.m. when I posted the link. It may not be in print, I have not checked.
December 22nd, 2009 at 4:15 pmwell, I know how anal one of those Blade reporters were about the “alleged” listing of an update when it wasn’t an update.
I just wanted you to know I saw first hand that they “updated” a story that was never posted in the first place….
December 22nd, 2009 at 4:53 pmoh it is in print on the front page. Still ROTFLMAO!
December 22nd, 2009 at 4:56 pmI saw the blade headline and story from m.toledoblade.com (mobile website) at 6am or so this morning.
December 22nd, 2009 at 4:57 pmBrian Maxson says:
“I just wanted you to know I saw first hand that they “updated” a story that was never posted in the first place….”
Yep, you’re spot-on, Brian. Both of us were greeting the day at an early hour. We are both either insomniacs, or you are a hard-working overachiever as I am!!!!
(For those who are part of the former Stain-crew, that big word means you can’t sleep)
December 22nd, 2009 at 5:06 pmLisa,
The was no mistake. One of the comments, above, referenced the print, which means we had it last night.
Brian, I’m on vacation. However, I’ll try to help. The 5:59 a.m. time was when the story was on the Web. This happens automatically. Our Web publishing system grabs the story from our print system and publishes it. The problem might have been with site caching.
Please forgive me for not responding futher on this thread. I’m into the holidays.
Hope you all have a great holiday. Merry Merry!
Obviously, since the story appeared on the front page of the newspaper, the printing started last night.
December 22nd, 2009 at 5:14 pmAs a conservative who left supporting the Republican party after this filthy business in Lucas County and the last Presidential election – I can hope that Stainbrook and his trashy friends will be a thing of the past.
You wouldn’t believe how they imitate the Blade in trying to smear you for just repeating what they say when they call you on the phone. It’s pretty incredible and fortunately plenty of people documented it for me.
These people are just trash (in my opinion).
December 22nd, 2009 at 6:12 pmPaul, I’m surprised you’d spend your vacation time on my blog. Not having seen the earlier time stamp, all I could factually point out is that at 9:15 it was on line and what time twitter showed, as before, the updated timestamp seems to cause confusion since there is no “original or first” posted time. As I wrote, I did not check to see if it was in print, but if it was as you and others have stated, then it was obviously written earlier.
December 22nd, 2009 at 6:20 pmthis is all so int’restin’ – unfortunately it sounds as though stain may have a leg to stand on. funny he wouldn’t learn the lesson that he used to gain control and that bit the “a” team dems 4 or 5 years ago. it really pays to have committed dems or reps on the central committees rather than flunky friends of some power for power’s sake blowhard. both parties are suffering right now and the results are felt by the citizens.
December 22nd, 2009 at 6:44 pmThe Noe card is really lame now! As far as I am considered when Stain got elected that was the end of Noe. However, expect Satan’s newspaper to keep brining it up!
As far as some in the previous leadership’s faction getting back into power, funny that Satan’s newspaper didn’t call out local dems when they put in a corrupt former county commish as their chairwoman back in 2004.
December 22nd, 2009 at 7:58 pmOne other point about the Blade’s “updates” – frequent updating of stories – even changing just a few words or correcting a typo – will get continued listings at the top of news search engines like Google News.
Just a traffic-building SEO trick, no conspiracy, folks.
December 22nd, 2009 at 9:25 pmHere is another fun fact that the blade shockingly missed. They pointed out that Jeff Simpson lost his race for City Council a couple of years ago. They fail to refer to stainbrook as a 3 TIME LOSER! He ran for Auditor 1 X and city council 2 X. (and those are just the campaigns for public office not his entire lifestyle).
December 22nd, 2009 at 11:42 pmNow lets take a look at his 2009 races, Hans Schnapp = loser, Constantine Stamos = loser, Jeff Cromwell = loser, Mark Clark = loser, Jeremiah van Buren = loser, Jim Moody = loser, Bill Connelly = winner but only 40% of vote, face it he ran against 2 dems, in a one on one race he would have lost. Sarantou and Ludeman he really can take no credit for. This guy has been a total mistake for the GOP and i say good riddance!
If the GOP Central Committee has any openings in Sylvania Township please let me know, I would love to run against one of stainbrooks street urchins! Lisa Renee can forward me any info!
December 22nd, 2009 at 11:44 pmAhhh…. I do love a good LCRP meeting!
The sites, the smells, the tatoos,… and the vision of someone doing her version of “Patsy Cline” on Bartow…I was taken all the way back to my kindergaden days…such fun times..!
And the way the Blah is re-hashing Olman’s and Thurber’s Noe associations, it only a matter of hours before I’m drinking on Bartow’s tab..!
GOLLY! Xmas has come early…!
December 23rd, 2009 at 9:40 amOh Rouge…
Bartow actually picking up a tab is a sure sign of Armageddeon. At lease that’s my experience
I offer as evidence last night.
mj
ps…when you see the scamp, please remind it’s his turn next time…I am sure it just slipped his mind
December 23rd, 2009 at 9:51 amOh, my thoughts exactly, there rogue.
Funny how they were picking and choosing who could come into a public meeting.
Again, Bernadette’s heart must be a twitter over this latest development in To-le-do!
December 23rd, 2009 at 9:55 amKateB,
In your opinion…just who are ‘these trashy people’??
How well do you know ‘them’? Have you ever dined with ‘them’? Enjoyed ‘their’ company in a social, non-political, setting? Really, do you know anything about ‘them’ personally, or just from one alledged faux pas?
I mean really…statements like you are making don’t make you much better than ‘them’ as you describe ‘them’ does it now??
mj
December 23rd, 2009 at 10:33 amWow, Kateb, you must’ve hit a nerve there!!! I’m laughing it off over here just thinking of the above pouting and fuming…
But, kateb, your observations and opinions are shared by others!
Funny how the old crew would have to scramble for hours, and I do mean HOURS before and after meetings to transport all of ‘their’ CC members, guessing old Frankies pals… since none owned cars, or at least ones that worked, IMHO…
Hence, at the summer meeting, the skid kept his pals busy while they awaited their turn, drinking on his credit card across from the headquarters building!!!
December 23rd, 2009 at 10:42 amlol henri! I had no idea the perpetually unemployed could qualify for a credit card!
December 23rd, 2009 at 10:52 amWell, it was plastic meghan. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt that it was credit, not debit…
Considering Stainbrook’s penchant for lawsuits, it could JUST be a debit card! LOL.
http://www.ipfrontline.com/depts/article.asp?id=12929&deptid=7
One has to wonder just how much he got…
December 23rd, 2009 at 11:31 amHold on there Henri…
Two points here.
You of all people don’t want to bring up the nasty little habbit of using credit cards…especially when the use is unauthorized…careful now! If that comes out, that may hit a bit too closely to ‘home’?.
Hitting a nerve by asking a clarification question?? You are sounding more and moe baiting with each post…but I (as well as everyone I am guessing) knows this is personal between us and in no way political.
But keep espousing those regurgitated thoughts and statements…it really is a re-run of conversations last night…yawn. but I know it makes you feel useful.
As far as doing anything on someone elses tab…heaven knows there are those that have described you as opporunistic. I know you usually wormed your way into every event without the benefit of payment (i.e. last Lincoln day)…but that is just how some people are…they think things are just ‘owed’ them.
Merry Christmas…I would think you would be very happy as opposed to still slinging hateful words. You are part of the reason this will never hold together…most people have a tough time working with you and your egocentric associates. Yet you complain bitterly of Jon not being inclusive…Hello…kettle??
It’s Christmas and life if very good.
Might I be brazen enough to suggest you lighten up and enjoy the season?
Sheesh.
mj
December 23rd, 2009 at 12:00 pmCould someone calm down the locals around here and get them back on topic. J/K the muds getting deep.
December 23rd, 2009 at 1:29 pmAt least Jon Stainbrook provides us comedy relief in these uncertain economic times.
December 23rd, 2009 at 2:25 pmWell Merry Christmas to you too mj.
I am not the deciding force of what/who is trash.
People define themselves with their own behavior.
You’re asking that question of the wrong party.
December 23rd, 2009 at 7:54 pm
