2010 will probably bring more selectivity…Today’s daily proves it…

24 Dec 2009

While the Toledo Free Press was pointing out some other areas of concern related to Jon Stainbrook’s branch of the Lucas County Republican Party:

After mix-ups with room charges for Ohio Republican Party members, the Lucas County Republican Party was compensated for the cost of the 2008 election victory party, which was unrelated to the room incident.

Mike Sapara, general manager of the Park Inn, confirmed that the party was not charged for its victory party, a cost of $1,081.67.

According to the Ohio Revised Code, section 3517.01, “In-kind contribution means anything of value other than money that is used to influence the results of an election or is transferred to or used in support of or in opposition to a candidate, campaign committee, legislative campaign fund, political party, political action committee, or political contributing entity and that is made with the consent of, in coordination, cooperation, or consultation with, or at the request or suggestion of the benefited candidate, committee, fund, party, or entity.”

No statement of an in-kind donation has been reported by the GOP for services from the Park Inn in the 2008 post-general report or the amended 2008 pre-general report filed Dec.11, 2008.

The Blade is still focusing on cases from 1989 and evidently now traffic incidents and other municipal court cases, ironically when I pointed out similar things on the Stainbrook faction in the past, I was told “wasn’t relevant” by a Blade reporter. If this is relevant according to the Blade:

Mr. Hoag, an alternative energy consultant and equipment supplier and treasurer of the Ohio Republican Party, was ticketed on I-475 in November, 2007, for failing to display a valid registration sticker on his pickup’s license plate. He didn’t pay the $46 fine or show up in court on time, triggering the bench warrant and suspension of his operator’s license.

City of Toledo records show that Mr. Hoag was charged on March 8, 2006, with two misdemeanors for failing to upgrade conditions at a Toledo property he owned at 1516 North Cove Blvd.

Then shouldn’t all of these court case filings be relevant? In some cases also resulted in a bench warrant being filed and one currently has at least one active bench warrant as of today. These are from just four of those who are part of the Stainbrook Executive Committee, this is not a complete list for all, including civil would be a much longer list, but as an example:

It’s like I’ve said repeatedly, if we are going to have a standard where these types of cases matter, then those from both sides should matter rather than the constant selective use of only the past of those who are the current target of the daily paper. Reporting on both sides isn’t that difficult and we know from past posts, which faction leads in the criminal/civil charges department. The problem is any members of our community who rely on our daily newspaper for their news? Doesn’t…

Wow, and Mr Hoag was personally singled out, Lisa. I have to wonder, who do we attribute those misdeeds you’ve stated above?

I could list the names, but I’m not interested in playing a tit for tat game of the politics of personal destruction. What I am interested in is pointing out that selectivity is still a problem and that I find it very sad that there’s such a state of bias in our media.

Since there are those who had and still have bench warrants issued for non-appearances in court, and those who have case histories with the courts years back, either everyone on both sides of the Lucas County Republican Party’s past matters or no one’s does…Personally I’d opt for the no one’s past traffic or misdemeanor offenses matter, especially if they are not even in the past decade…

I’m no lawyer but I’m wondering how a free room AFTER an election can influence an election as required by the statute.

Political parties and candidates have to record donations whether in-kind or in cash the trigger is the value not the level of election influence. The current leadership of the Lucas County Party was aware of the requirement, they listed at least one in kind donation that was not related to a fundraising event on another report. $20,000 worth of lapel pins was reported.

There are several parts to the laws concerning donations. County Parties are required to follow the same reporting laws, cited in

    http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/search/3517.10 – that’s stated in 3517.11:

    (4) Except as otherwise provided in division (E)(3) of section 3517.106 of the Revised Code with respect to state candidate funds, county political parties shall file the statements prescribed by section 3517.10 of the Revised Code with the board of elections of their respective counties.

You are amazing, Lisa. All this investigation and while you are attempting to enjoy the Holiday with family.

Amazing how the daily selects what they print and how they print information, all to destroy those they choose to destroy and spare those that adhere to their whims.

Many have simply stopped subscribing or even reading it on line. It is becoming irrelevant and yet they continue their pathetic lies.

I just read the editorial in Sunday’s Blade on the republican party and I can’t remember having read a more confused mish-mash of agenda driving than that particular piece. Total loss of credibilithy form the editorial staff. Just amazing stuff really from what purports to be one of America’s great newspapers.

The big question should be : what kind of pics of JR Block doing what does stainbrook have? I have seen this paper destroy quite a few but never have i seen them go all out like this for anyone. He must have something MAJOR that block does not want out.

All case filings should be relevant in dealings like this.
