Toledo UAW excited over Chrysler plan
No more “Daimler Disaster and the Cerberus Circus” according to this FOX Toledo. Part of the recommended story:
DOWNTOWN TOLEDO – Toledo area UAW leaders are excited, especially now that they say, they’ve really got car people in charge again at Chrysler.
They’ve had some pretty harsh nicknames for past owners.
“As you know for Daimler, we called it the Daimler Disaster and the Cerberus Circus,” said UAW Local 12 President Bruce Baumhower. “We just finished that era and they seemed to not have any interest in the products that we build here. They didn’t seem to recognize the crown jewel that they had in the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep brand.”
It would be hard for the UAW to now insult the owners of Chrysler / Jeep, since they are now one of them (and a damn big one at that).
I am happy to see that there appears to be an attempt to bring back from the grave, a company that could bring a lot of jobs to the city. I would be happier still if anyone was talking about paying back the taxpayers for any of the money that they invested in this company’s future.
As for what the UAW and Bruce Baumhower thinks about the situation, I find it a matter of indifference.
November 6th, 2009 at 3:06 pmI’m surprised the Nitro is being kept alive. It was a lousy seller and I doubt it will help Chrysler survive.
