Since Detroit didn’t get rid of its city government in the midst of its collapse, we’re probably looking to endure the same thing.

Ashford is having more public meetings on the trash issue than the other districts, I believe he’s having four in total, one in each part of District 4.

He did not support those who were trying to keep Kroger’s open, that’s true. Some of us realized it wasn’t going to be kept open and few if any are taking advantage of the shuttle. Perhaps one or two per Saturday, which demonstrates the 200 families that shopped at that store exclusively are going somewhere to buy their groceries…

Thanks for the info, I have gone to the website a few times before but could not find info for meetings at Zablocki center, after starting from the bottom of lists I found it. I am still learning how to navigate the websites.

However, the reason that I asked you, was to bring out the fact that I was never seeing any announcements from my District Councilman Mike Ashford for meetings on the trash issue. I think that he avoids public meetings with his constituients
in the Lagrange neighborhood. IMHO

You know we had issues with him in regards to Krogers closing on Manhattan and his non- support of our neighborhood effort to highlight the closure.
Per my conversation with him, he said that the store was in District 6.I guess that it didn’t matter that a large number of his constituients shopped at that store.However he did respond to me via a letter in the mail. He offered to meet with me at his office. I responded with another e-mail that he has never responded to either time.

Well I will look forward to seeing him at the meeting on Nov. 24, at the Zablocki center.

Maybe he will be on the podium at this one on Nov.24,2009. We will see.
