Bullfrogs hop out…
12 Nov 2009
Okay I couldn’t resist, this was pretty much expected with some of the rumors going around about the health of the arena football league but now it’s formal, FOX Toledo as an example of the media, Bullfrogs bow out of 2010 season.
The real mystery is still the naming right’s issue…Who will be right? Jerry Chabler who stated at a Committee of the Whole meeting on Issue 3 that Penn National Gaming was being courted if the casino gambling issue passed or Huntington Bank…
This is GREAT NEWS TO ME!!
November 12th, 2009 at 11:20 amMaybe my hat will become a collector’s item. It can go on my shelf next to my Goal Diggers and Storm stuff…
November 12th, 2009 at 11:46 amI’m sorry to hear about that. Hopefully they’ll come back in 2011.
November 12th, 2009 at 12:36 pmThere is Football at all levels of
area schools, colleges, professional,
etc.
How much more does there need to be in
every city????
Football already FLOODS the news,
local and cable stations.
Play or Do Something Else!
November 12th, 2009 at 12:50 pmLighten up Sue!
However, I could see this coming a long ways, especially after the big Arena League cancelled their season.
November 12th, 2009 at 1:35 pmI have really lightened up Chad, especially since there will be no
November 12th, 2009 at 2:06 pmfootball in the new arena for at
least a year.
Except not on TV, in our town, on sundays, saturdays, like I said, Lighten up!
November 12th, 2009 at 8:27 pmChad, she’s entitled to not like football, so a “lighten up Francis” moment could extend beyond Sue….
November 12th, 2009 at 9:33 pmThanks Lisa Renee!
Chad, there is NO FOOTBALL ON
November 12th, 2009 at 11:26 pmMY TV! all I and many others need
to do is FLIP IT OFF WITH THE REMOTE!
I for one think football in the area is a good thing. I was very happy when they started the MVP game in Perrysburg.
I wish they would bring back the old Shoe Bowl or another like bowl for the local high schoolers who don’t make the state playoffs but would still like to play in front of college scouts.
As far as the Bullfrogs are concerned the AF2 was risky at best and the new league is a joke. I think a team like that could catch on in Toledo but I believe as a whole the new arena was poorly thought out and constructed. All people I’ve talked to who’ve been there think it’s too cramped.
I personally think it should have been built as a 15K seat arena instead it’s an 8K seat arena and essentially competes with Savage Hall for the same “acts”. Who will win on that one? Savage Hall hands down. That project was better managed, better built, nicer, and much more economically viable.
November 13th, 2009 at 2:31 pmI know Lisa, just wanted to give her a good “ribbing.”
However, I did have my doubts about this franchise from the get-go!
November 13th, 2009 at 2:40 pmEveryone I’ve talked to who’s seen a game in the arena thought it was awesome. Then again they are hockey fans used to the sports arena. : )
November 13th, 2009 at 2:52 pmMy garage would be a better site for hockey in Toledo than the old dumpy Sports Arena. LOL!
November 13th, 2009 at 3:04 pmI heard the new sports arena seating was very cramped. However, for fans that went to the old one, its probably nothing new to them.
But the one person that told me this, is exactly the people they are trying to get down there. Middle-class from the suburbs. He doesn’t sound like he is gonna go back, but its only one person!
November 14th, 2009 at 2:05 pmWho ever that person is who stated the seats were cramped must not have attended any sporting events at any large arenas. Same seating. I think the Arena seating is good.
