Wilkowski press conference & Polish Dinner yesterday with Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur
Shortly after the primary it was announced that Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur as well as the Lucas County Democratic Party endorsed Keith Wilkowski for Mayor, yesterday a press conference was held at St. Hedwig’s Church where Congresswoman Kaptur spoke publicly for the first time in support of Wilkowski and was joined by several other women elected officials and candidates. Here is the list of from the press release that was sent out prior to the event:

· Marcy Kaptur, U. S. Congresswoman
· Teresa Fedor, State Senator
· Julia Bates, Lucas County Prosecutor
· Anita Lopez, Lucas County Auditor
· Tina Skeldon Wozniak, Lucas County Commissioner
· Lindsay Webb, Toledo City Councilwoman, District 6
· Wilma Brown, Toledo City Councilwoman, District 1

There was media coverage of the press conference portion of yesterday, WTVG has some of that coverage online. I was not there for that portion of yesterday’s events, but I was in attendance for the Polish Dinner and was able to take video of the words said by Ohio Representative Peter Ujvagi, who introduced Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, Congresswoman Kaptur’s remarks and Mayoral Candidate Keith Wilkowski’s comments. There was over 45 minutes of video, I’ve shortened that down to almost 20 minutes, focusing on content directly related to our area and to the Wilkowski campaign that I thought would be of interest, what was removed was the acknowledgment of other candidates present, the thank you’s type statements that are standard at this type of an event and a small amount of material that has been stated previously. Which is why this is up today instead of last night, it does take some time to edit video of that length. There are some electeds/candidates mentioned, but those that were in context of a statement.
Elected officials and candidates present when I was there; (If I miss someone inadvertently let me know) – in the order I remember seeing them:
Lisa Sobecki, Joe McNamara, Michael Friedman, Jeanine Perry, Teresa Fedor, Terry Shankland, Bob Vasquez, Brenda Hill, Steve Steel, Peter Ujvagi, Mike Craig, Polly Taylor-Gerken, Pete Gerken, Marcy Kaptur.
I also have a few photos that I took before I started the video taping. You should be able to view them below:
By way of disclosure, I was invited to the dinner, but there was no expectation nor promise made of video or photo coverage on the blog nor did any of those in attendance have editorial control over what video moments were selected to publish.
LISA…GREAT COVERAGE, AND IT WAS AN OUTSTANDING EVENT
October 18th, 2009 at 7:01 pmThis is not a joke, but I hear that School Board candidate John Bulldog Rust was on hand too. I also hear that John Coble, one of the three finalists to be considered for a gubernatorial appointment to the 6th District Court of Appeals, was also there. Although he’s not an elected official or a candidate, I though it bears mentioning.
October 18th, 2009 at 10:34 pmI met John Coble, but since he’s not a candidate, I didn’t list him, but, you are right. John Bulldog Rust was there and proclaimed when asked that he was 94 years old.
