the problem is, the loss of staff at newspapers around the state and the general trend in all media toward being entertainment/infomercial outlets is allowing corruption in government at all levels to flourish. web bloggers don’t have the resources and/or clout to enforce sunshine laws and ferret out all of the bad actors.

the hen house is unprotected right now and the corrupt people who know this, like these casino operators and their minions, are acting fast knowing that they can write these proposals, throw money into marketing and recruiting groups to endorse them and if and when the proposal passes they will have a monopoly on this cash cow… with no regard how it will actually affect communities, economies, and people.

they have exploited the hard economic times to make it seem like we would all be doing better if only we had gambling. by putting the issue before the voters every couples years, people have become punch drunk and unable to decipher good legislation from bad – this is bad legislation.

i don’t listen to wspd often but this morning (wednesday) fred had an excellent interview with an opponent of issue 3 who did a great job of discussing the full range of issues arising from this particular constitutional amendment proposal – i hope they post it on their site.
