Toledo mayoral candidate Keith Wilkowski will address the Ohio Commission on Local Government Reform and Collaboration at a public hearing, Friday, August 28 at 10:30 a.m.
Wilkowski will discuss regional development and the use of Joint Economic Development Zone (JEDZ) agreements at the Toledo’s Main Library, 325 North Michigan Street, in the Huntington Meeting Room on the first floor.

Wilkowski will discuss the strengths of Joint Economic Development Zone (JEDZ) agreements in promoting sustainable regional growth and cooperative economic development, and offer suggestions for making the JEDZ law more effective.
As Toledo’s Law Director and counsel for the city of Toledo, Wilkowski forged JEDZ agreements between Toledo, Maumee, and Monclova Township; and between Toledo and Rossford. Those agreements have resulted in the creation of thousands of jobs and are generating millions in new revenues for the City of Toledo.
The Ohio Commission on Local Government Reform and Collaboration was established to develop recommendations on ways to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of local government operations, to achieve cost savings for taxpayers, and to facilitate economic development in the state of Ohio. The Commission will issue a report of its findings and recommendations to the President of the Ohio Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the Governor by July 1, 2010.
