Opal Covey turns in her signatures for Mayor…

13 Jul 2009

According to NBC24, Opal Covey turned in her signatures today to be on the September primary ballot…She’s quoted as saying she’s on a mission to help save Toledo. Many of you will remember the prophecy that Opal made in 2005:

”A blessed new government awaits you. This is the second and last opportunity to choose a new government for Toledo through My servant Opal, whom I have sent for the job. Toledo is dead; she will resurrect through Me. If you choose to keep the old criminal government that has been cursed for many decades, the city will be destroyed.”

Clearly since she is running a third time, we have one more opportunity…

For years we have all laughed regarding
her Amusement Park. Is her Amusement
Park at this point any different than
    Strickland’s Slots and everyone
    else’s Casinos??

Maybe Strickland needed to talk with
Cedar Point for his Slots and the
others who want Casinos to have it
    all there??

I never laughed. Here’s why more specifically (regarding the amusement park idea. )

There used to be a version of her idea in the Detroit downriver area (no, not Edgewater, for those old enough to rememberthat). It was on the border of Wyandot & Riverview on Fort Street. There was a ferris wheel, merry go-round and very small child-sized roller coaster, & tilt-a-whirl, along with other basics like cotton candy & popcorn. It was there spring to fall, and somebody had set up a side business called “Jumpin Jiminy” with trampolines – which were kind of a novelty back then.

This was not Cedar Point. (Who could have afforded that back then & not a lot of low-moderate income parents can afford it now.) Harried parents – generally moms out shopping with the kids, running errands, paying bills, would say something like: “Want to stop and go on a couple rides?” “Yay” of course everybody wanted to stop. Simple, cheap, fast and easy. It was very popular back in the late 50’s, early 60’s.

    It’s not a stupid idea. It’s a great idea.

Then i guess Opal can count on your vote! There used to be one of those places out in the Waterville/Whitehouse area. Sort of a creepy twilight zone feeling…
