Evacuation at Toledo Municipal Court
Breaking news story:
Toledo Municipal Court evacuated after reports of explosion
Toledo police Tuesday morning evacuated the Toledo Municipal Court building at 555 N. Erie Street in downtown Toledo after reports of a fire and an explosion.
Police have closed Erie Street near Jackson and Orange streets.
Deputies on the scene said they made the decision to evacuate after they smelled the additive that is in natural gas.
There are no reports of injuries and safety personnel are on the scene.
Blade, WTOL is not reporting a fire or an explosion at this point:
The Toledo Municipal Court on Erie St. has been evacuated. Fire crews are on scene. Erie St. is closed between Jackson and Orange.
Inmates are all being taken back to the jail.
Police scanner traffic indicated a possible gas leak, however that has not been confirmed.
The LiveCam that WTVG has doesn’t show any equipment or smoke visible from the front of the Safety Building.
Updated 9:39 a.m. NBC24 is reporting that a head gasket on a generator blew.
Updated 9:57 a.m. – from an e-mail – everyone has returned to the building
The LiveCam from WTVG now shows some fire equipment and it looks as if there are some people outside in the grass area in front of the Safety Building.
That is one of the cool things about these live web cameras, if they are pointed in the direction of an incident, sometimes you can get an idea as to what’s happening without being there.
