TOLEDO, Ohio – June 5, 2009 – During these tough economic times social services are in high demand, yet nonprofit organizations are struggling to do more and serve more with less funding than ever before. The Center for Nonprofit Resources (The Center), a collaboration of The Community Partnership, Toledo Community Foundation and United Way of Greater Toledo, is proud to award capacity building grants totaling $209,986 to 33 area nonprofits. The Center is administering a grant on behalf of the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families Compassion Capital Fund Demonstration Program, which is funding these awards.
The purpose of the grant is to focus on capacity building initiatives including organizational assessments and strategic planning, board and/or staff development, fund development planning, succession planning, external communications strategies, technology improvements, financial management systems, program evaluation and measurement, and human resource policies and procedures to organizations that serve at-risk youth and/or individuals and families transitioning from welfare to work.
