The Truth: More predictions from Jack, Music, a letter from June Boyd and more…
The cover story of this week’s Sojourner’s Truth is about a Local Compilation Album called; “The Last Royalty Compilation C.D.” It drives home what many of us have discovered, that Toledo is rich with musical talent. Toledo’s also rich with political predictions, and former Mayor Jack Ford makes an interesting one in his My View column:
My take on the Toledo Board of Education race has the following line up in this order – Bob Vasquez, Darlene Fisher, Brenda Hill and Green. But if Green raises big bucks, he can win because he has an attractive message.
It’s early yet, but as the field stands today? I agree with Jack Ford that Fisher will win and Vasquez will win though I think the order could possibly be reversed. When it comes to Hill or Green? I think Green has a better shot as number three, which is purely speculative at this point because others could jump into the race.
Konop, Moody and Bell get a mention in the column, but it’s not positive, Wilkowski gets some kudos:
Keith Wilkowski tried to give an address on Sunday April 4 to the members of the Elks Club on Junction Avenue. But Wilkowski ran into a buzz saw of questions over loyalty from Weldon Douthitt and Elks kingpin, Junior Alexander. Give Wilkowski credit for showing up at a black event and taking some tough hits. However, where was Ben Konop? Mike Bell? Jim Moody?
June Boyd wrote a letter to the editor of the Sojourner’s Truth in reference to their not including Jim Moody on the cover as well as Ford’s comment he expected Moody to “fade away” and while I agree with her that Moody should have been included, I’m not sure including a reference to two businesses in the Bancroft-Franklin Plaza only being fit for a pig to enter was a necessary inclusion.
It doesn’t appear there is a “This Strikes Us” for this week, but there are other articles to recommend, Leadership Matters by Rev. Donald L. Perryman as one example. Lafe Tolliver’s Ads That Will Never See the Light of Day! demonstrates Lafe’s use of sarcasm and wit…
