Political online polls showed up about 6 years ago and since have been widely dismissed as lacking any credibility or reliability. They really should be viewed as a game– like “how many friends can you accumulate on your facebook account,” or “grow XXX cause 1,000,0000 strong.” Other types of online polls don’t have the same problems. As this is uniquely related to the gaming, posturing, and smokescreens of campaign work, I caution any person who tries to seriously interpret or give weight to such a poll.
March 4th, 2009 at 12:04 amOnline polls are pretty much invalid for anything more than a discussion point, or to gage popularity of a particular online issue. Television stations and many other news outlets, including newspapers use them.
I agree they are not scientific, I would hope most of the readers here realize that.
March 4th, 2009 at 12:28 amThe link is not working
March 4th, 2009 at 7:34 amYou didn’t include Opal!
March 4th, 2009 at 8:47 amMeghan it’s working for me, Nate, I didn’t make the poll, I’d guess Opal would have to be the “other.”
March 4th, 2009 at 9:07 amalmost 450 “votes”, assuming no repeat voting, begins to say something – it seems likely the poll indicates who is best organized at this time. wilkowski is best organized.
most interesting though is that without a current elected seat and less media attention and, i suspect, an organization, bell is “indicated” as being neck and neck with the commish and the mayor just lags.
March 4th, 2009 at 10:02 amOnce Mike Bell comes out of the closet and begins running in earnest, he’ll be the man to beat.
I predict that it’ll be between Bell and Wilkowski, although Moody could be in there if he steps up his “to date” laid back campaigning style.
March 4th, 2009 at 2:17 pmHow about None of the Above?
March 4th, 2009 at 3:53 pmThat would be “other” Jim.

March 4th, 2009 at 3:56 pmI vote for “other”…..Mark Sobczak will be the next mayor of Toledo. The current recall effort will remove Carty from office and Mr. Sobczak will then take his place. They hired a professional petitioning firm.
