Gene Krebs to speak at TMACOG Board of Directors Meeting

WOZNIAK HOSTS STATEWIDE LEADER ON SUSTAINABLE PLANNING
Lucas County Commissioner Tina Skeldon Wozniak has invited Gene Krebs, a statewide leader on sustainable planning and innovative solutions to local government, to speak at the TMACOG Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Grand Lobby of Dr. Martin Luther King Plaza, 300 Martin Luther King Drive.
“In this time of dwindling resources, we need a modern local government system that works together, and there is no better leader on these issues than Gene Krebs,” said Commissioner Wozniak, Chair of TMACOG for 2008. “I look forward to listening to his ideas with my colleagues and searching for real solutions to the many challenges that face Northwest Ohio.”
Mr. Krebs’ organization, Greater Ohio, is a non-partisan, non-profit agency formed to educate the public about important land use and financial issues facing Ohio. Gene Krebs and the agency are working to help business and government understand and apply broad principles of sustainability. This concept of sustainability includes fiscal issues as well as environmental concerns.
Some of the topics that he addresses include how to move from crisis mitigation mode to long term stability, and fiscal planning including building the cost of maintenance into the cost of new development.
