I've made a concerted effort to respect Lisa and her endeavour.

I also understand and respect the intent of this specific blogsite.

It's been somewhat difficult to hold myself in check on certain issues or posters, but I've enjoyed the mature opinions a majority provide to enlighten me.

Then you have the typical douchebags that would rather start problems just because their stupid ass personality allows it. Those are the ones who envy your contribution because they know they've failed in their own personal goals.

This would obviously include David.

Takes all kinds to make a community.

Look just at what this election has done to relationships within the Democratic Party as an example. So much for respecting another's position.

I think it is worth it - but we should remember that if we wouldn't take time out of our day to talk to these assholes if we ran into them on the street - it isn't worth it to talk to them online.

Unless there's a gross abuse (like the one here) I'm just going to scan by these idiots because there really are people who are interested in the exchange of ideas and information. Tolerant and progressive people.

Like you - I'm not willing to give up talking to those people because assholes prove themselves to be assholes again and again.

Or this proves how crazy I am Dion and Kate.

I had no idea when I first started this two years ago that it would be so time intensive to handle the actual "running the blog" part of it.

At times it is tempting to just walk away from it, then I remind myself that it is worth it. Most of the time.

LR's a hero for even trying....I run a website and only check it like 3 times a month. I can't imaging having to check a blog 3x's (or more) a day THEN having to decide what to leave, what to delete (who to ban)

Madd props, 4 skilz!!!

Running a blog isn't quite as easy as it looks. I am sorry that you've had the hassles that you have had.

Sometimes I wonder who gave these idiots a keyboard.

He was blocked from a variety of ip addresses, then he started posting from OSU which meant I would have had to ban everyone from there who commented, which I did not want to do. Prior to this thread of allowing him a chance to have his say, I deleted comments that he posted because he was banned and it was clear the behavior he was banned for did not stop. It almost became a game for him where he would post where he was commenting from.

I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt, I could again be shown that is a mistake.

Can't you just block that guy somehow? Talk about a thread killer.

Or hijacker I guess I should say.

And for the record, and I know many people have NO manners at all - but the standards still exist even if they are completely ignorant of them - it is very bad and rude behavior to inquire about how someone votes or voted.

It is unacceptable and boorish behavior. Obviously some are lacking in their upbringing and needed to be told.

It is also rude to discuss religion or politics at dinner.

It is also rude to chew with your mouth open or arrive at the table with your fly unzipped.

(I figured they must need to be told these things as well since they don't know how uncouth it is to ask someone how they voted).

Dion, some would say it's a character flaw of mine that I go too far at times to be fair, and that I invest much more of myself than I should for people and for causes that others would just walk away from.

I think we both know people like that.

This is like trying to reason with Russo. I'm scared for you LisaRenee...remember, "No good deed goes unpunished."

I've read Hickman on other blogs and he seems to be hyper-sensitive being called ANYTHING.

Hickman, its her blog she can manage it however she wants. She can edit you, ban you or whatever she wants. Her editing or banning you isn't censorship because you express yourself on your own blog and exercise your 1st amendment right.

Hickman, you have been called names. Suck it up.
Let me put it in terms you will understand.
Quit crying like a little girl. lol

As Russo would say Boo-hoo, Whaaa!!!

Maybe this thread should be changed to "Hickman's Predictable Behavior."

As usual, we have a communication problem. Rather than accept the fact that I have gone way beyond what I would have to do considering some of the things you've written about me elsewhere, and via email and via repeated posts that were deleted and the way you behaved here, I gave you chance after chance in this thread to discuss it.

That's what that sentence meant. This is a circular argument where you keep trying to say your being banned was because I took issue with what you disagreed with me on and I keep saying that was not it. If anything, I've demonstrated time and time again that I can handle it, without running out there everywhere and crying about being "victimized" I point out what I disagree with it, why I feel the way I feel and I move on.

You never have taken responsibility for what got you banned and since you want to keep making this be about you, let's make this about you for a moment. You didn't care if other OSU students could not access this blog to comment because of your behavior because you knew the only way I could totally block you was to block them. You never stopped to think about what consequences I was willing to face to let you comment here after you were banned at almost every other left blog. You proved all of those who emailed me that they wouldn't comment here if I let you comment here, and how you would not act civil that you would act on my blog the same way you did on theirs, that how could I let you attack them, etc., etc., you proved all of them right.

I was the stupid one who actually defended you and stated that you respected the rules here and contributed to the conversation, that they were wrong about you, that you did have something to add to the discussion. I wasn't proud of the fact that I banned you, it proved them right. I stood up for you then, the same reason why I'm standing up for myself now, because I felt it was the right thing to do.

Right now Hickman, how many other bloggers have actually even tried to have this type of a discussion with you? Who else has tried to see if despite everything that has happened a common ground of understanding could be reached?
