Rejoice! We will not end up glowing this time…

Davis-Besse radioactive leak is fixed and it’s safe to drink the water…
And there was little to worry about anyway, so they say, because:
Tritium, according to the U.S. EPA, is one of the least dangerous radioactive materials.
It emits low-energy radiation and leaves the body relatively quickly, although it goes directly into soft tissues and organs because it almost always binds to water molecules, the agency said.
I’m not against Nuclear Power, but I do believe that there are some valid questions that have been raised when it comes to the inspection and re-licensing procedures.
You state that ‘we’re safe’ because of what ‘they’ say.
Thinking back, I seem to recall the Officials – both the company’s & the politico’s – saying there “was no danger” during the 3 Mile Island incident.
They waited 32 hours before notifying the NRC? Whoa!
Maybe it’s just me, but when Davis Besse says “no problem” I want to run as far west as possible.
October 25th, 2008 at 4:10 pmI used to work at Davis-Besse and in my not so humble opinion the place should have been shut down years ago.
I’m in favor of nuclear power, but when dealing with a nuclear power plant, smaller is better. Build many small nuclear plants and use the same design for each plant.
October 26th, 2008 at 3:58 pmWe’ll need all the nuclear power plants that can be built when the electric cars come into the market.
October 26th, 2008 at 5:29 pmGraphics, I felt the same way when I read how not to worry about what was leaked, because it only stayed in soft tissue.
Mad Jack, I know other people who have worked there who have said the same thing.
Jim, that’s an interesting point.
October 26th, 2008 at 5:54 pmConsider this.
How much of a health risk is the exposure from the discharge in coal burning plants?
My guess is that nukes compare very favorably to other electric power generation.
