A knock on my door…Jan Scotland

06 Aug 2008

We don’t get many candidates who visit over here in my part of South Toledo, some supporters during campaign season to drop off literature but just a few moments ago, Jan Scotland stopped by doing door to door in this neighborhood. He braved past the Hillary Clinton for president sign on the door, and two little yippy dogs to drop off a small campaign card that states:

Scotland for Commissioner

Jobs – We need to make Lucas County more friendly to Businesses because it’s businesses that hire people, not politicians.

Taxes – Lucas County Government is growing at twice the rate of inflation, and it’s all coming from your wallet!!

I introduced myself to him, had a brief chit chat about why it’s important that there be a choice for voters at all elections and warned him about the stray cat that likes to try to trip people…

    Hmm…
Lisa, since Ilive lierally around the corner from you and never seen hide nor hair of JS I suspect that he knew who you were and that he could get free publicity on your Blog just by showing up at your door. I may be wrong but I may be right!

I had to introduce myself, so I don’t think he knew it was my house, since he’s in the area they could have quit before they reached you, I didn’t ask where they started tonight. That said, you’ll have to let me know in the next day or so if you get either a visit or find the card left at your door.

Jan sounds nice. I’ve never had a candidate come to my door. That really impresses me.

In all the years I’ve lived in this house, I’ve only had one candidate knock on my door. It was a person running for city council and it wasn’t Mike Craig.

A lot of people appreicate the candidate coming over to make the personal plea, while some find it annoying and disruptive. Probably more of the former.

Sounds like his lit is vague, vapid and inane.

As of this writing (8/11/0 I have no card nor have I been visited that I know of; unless he came to my door while at work. In that case though I would of thought that he would leave some campaign materials.

Typically they leave material there, and so far no one else has reported a visit, so we’ll keep the “Jan tracking” going.

I had Mr Scotland knocking on my door last night. He does seem to be a really nice fellow.

Mindy, without giving away your specific location, what end of town do you live in?

I am in the downtown area…there was a game last night so that may be why Mr. Scotland was in the neighborhood.
