This in via email from the office of Lucas County Commissioner Tina Skeldon Wozniak:
COMMISSIONER WOZNIAK CALLS FOR INVESTMENT IN PROVEN ‘ENTREPRENURIAL’ JOBS GROUP
Lucas County Commissioner Tina Skeldon Wozniak will call for a $10,000 economic development investment in Assets Toledo, Inc., a proven entrepreneurial jobs training program, at a news conference on Monday, June 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Assets Toledo’s offices, 2200 Jefferson Ave., in UpTown Toledo.
Commissioner Wozniak will encourage her fellow Commissioners to support her resolution on Tuesday to provide this investment. She will be joined by Assets Toledo Director Olivia Holden, a successful community business leader, who has recently raised almost $54,000 in private funds from institutions like The Andersons and Sauder Furniture.
Also attending will be local business owners who credit their success to Assets Toledo’s programs.
“If a lack of jobs is our problem, then Assets Toledo is the solution,” said Commissioner Wozniak. “They have trained over 100 small business owners in their short tenure, and there’s no question that with enough funds, they can help put Lucas County back on the economic map.”

June 23rd, 2008 at 12:17 pmI think this is a great idea with tons of potential, but I can’t help but wonder how much better ideas like this would work “IF” our commissioners would put their differences and “one upmanship” aside and start working together?
June 23rd, 2008 at 2:01 pmIf our community had more Olivia Holden’s I imagine what we’d accomplish.
