Brian Wilson leaving WSPD going back to Baltimore….(not accurate…See update)
03 Apr 2008
This in via email from a reader, Brian Wilson is coming back and it says he’s starting on April 9th which makes you wonder who’s going to take his place at WSPD.
Beginning Wednesday, April 9, Wilson will taken over the noon-3 p.m. slot on WHFS-FM (105.7). Ed Norris, who is rapidly becoming the main man on the city’s afternoon radio dials, will move to the 3 p.m.-6 p.m. time slot.
Updated! As per this post, Brian Wilson is not leaving…
So can we also assume his wife is leaving WSPD?
Do you think Maggie will replace him?
Or….
How about YOU, Lisa? Roman might stop listening, but I’d start.
April 3rd, 2008 at 8:40 pmlmao – I don’t think WSPD would ever be interested in me, I’m not an on air radio talent, and I don’t know what’s going to happen as far as his wife or who will be replacing who. In talking about this it was suggested that maybe he’d do the show in Baltimore by remote but I’m not sure if that’s possible given one show ends at 3 one starts at three and they are not both Clear Channel stations. With the way the article reads it sounds as if he’s moving there.
If he does both? I’ll have to change my headline for the post.

April 3rd, 2008 at 8:44 pmGood Riddens!!
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:04 pmI’ll try to be polite about this….Mr. Wilson, good luck with your future gig in Baltimore and don’t let the door hit you on your way out of Toledo.
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:15 pmWhat a loss for Northwest Ohio! Say it ain’t so.
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:18 pmOkay: It ain’t so that it’s a loss for Northwest Ohio.
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:21 pmWatch, it will be a late April Fool’s and then he’ll taunt us all for believing it.

April 3rd, 2008 at 9:36 pmI think Larry who has been filling in for Maggie is going to take over for Brian. He has been on for a while.
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:46 pmGood riddance! I never could stand to listen to his stammering delivery. It was so annoying. Perhaps Denny Schaffer will return to the airwaves on WSPD.?
April 3rd, 2008 at 9:52 pmI don’t think Denny would leave Atlanta and he’s doing a remote on WCWA that started this week.
Not everyone disliked Brian, he has some fans that I’m sure will be unhappy to see him go. Just like when Bob Frantz left, some were happy some were not, same when Denny left.
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:17 pmIf there’s someone who liked Brian, I haven’t met that person yet.
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:23 pmI’m among the happy. Wilson’s version of entertainment is mean spirited.
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:25 pmI know a couple, if everyone disliked him and didn’t listen he would have been here even shorter than he was.
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:26 pmOh Crap…I have to warn my sister. She lives within earshot of Baltimore.
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:26 pmIf Brian Wilson leaves Toledo airwaves, it will be a huge loss. He has brought people to Toledo, via his show, that we might never have heard of otherwise. He has given all his listeners a new perspective. Personally, he has given me the incentive I needed to become more involved in local politics. Toledo needs him now more than ever and I hope he will remain in Toledo and do the Baltimore show by remote.
April 3rd, 2008 at 10:49 pmBarb? What?
He has brought people to Toledo, via his show
No one would ever come to Toledo, based on what Wilson said about it.

What I meant was that during Brians show on WSPD, he has had guests that I have never heard on the radio in Toledo before. People like Walter Williams, Ann Coulter, Jim Bovard. I didn’t mean they physically came to Toledo, that’s why I said “via his show”. It was my first posting – sorry if it was confusing.
April 3rd, 2008 at 11:21 pmShe meant guests from across the country….
April 3rd, 2008 at 11:22 pmFor me, all that needs to be said is that he counts Ann Coulter among his friends.
April 3rd, 2008 at 11:23 pmThis just goes to show that a somewhat less than intellegent mind is willing to leave Toledo for greener pastures. I, myself, have thought of doing the same, but I’m not in the radio business. I find that the majority of these folks will move to wherever to make the bigger buck. They truly don’t care. I’m willing to sit and wait. If we can point our local government in the right direction, than perhaps, we can make a difference. If you think about it from a natural resource perspective, Toledo should be a gold mine. We have the hardest, most efficient and intelligent manufacturing workforce in the world. And I mean that. As a policy, we are properly moving away from manufacturing to green energy…why can’t we be the green energy capital of the world? Oh that’s right… you’d rather complain.
Toledo is not the only city hurting right now. Every city is… (ironocally, with the exception of the states that need water, hmmm?). Listen, I love golf. I’d love to play golf year round. But I’m not willing to give up my rain for your desert. Rain, and cold, and the four seasons, are all beautiful things. I’m sorry Arizona, you will not keep up in the long run. We have water. You don’t. And we’re not giving it to you. Perhaps you overextended yourselves.
If the state of Ohio and the Great Lakes Region ever gives water to the southwest, they ought to be ashamed. This is a viable region. Businesses chose to go elsewhere. Yet, we will always have the water, and we will not give it away.
April 4th, 2008 at 1:49 amI do have to say “just wondering” is pretty funny with that line of thinking……it’s like saying “for me all that needs to be said is that He counts Mary Magdelan and Judas Iscariot among His friends.” Very funny “wondering”.
April 4th, 2008 at 9:28 amthanks fred. now go back to bickering about Carty and nitpicking all those major issues you routinely cry about. Make sure you never talk about what a colossal waste of lives and money the Iraq war has been. That would be an incidental issue too trivial for you to discuss. Keep your focus on the flowers and plants in Toledo. Great job.
April 4th, 2008 at 11:10 am“We have the hardest, most efficient and intelligent manufacturing workforce in the world. ”
But, yet, in another post, “We have a highly uneducated public.”
We want jobs, and the green that comes with the jobs.
Green jobs is certainly a great idea, but will the jobs be sustainable.
Some have claimed that without federal and state support the jobs will head elsewhere, as in lower cost labor areas.
April 4th, 2008 at 11:27 am“Wondering”, thanks for listening so intently that you know the content of the shows. I must say I agree with you about the colossal waste of lives and money but I leave the national topics to the syndicated shows. My show is locally focused.
April 4th, 2008 at 12:48 pmI listen sporadically, one can tune in at almost anytime to hear a rant about Carty. Good stuff!! I also specifically boycott all the advertisers of WSPD.
April 4th, 2008 at 1:17 pmFirst and foremost, there is no reason to boycott anything or anybody who sponsors WSPD. You know what you’re getting into what you listen, and you wouldn’t know who their sponsors were if you didn’t listen.
Second, NC, this is directed at you. You are correct in your quoting of me, but you seem to lack a certain je ne sais quas (which is french for “I don’t know what.”
I stand by what I said. Toledo has a strong MANUFACTURING INTELLECT, and I also stand by the fact that I’ve said in the past that toledoans general lack in overall education (meaning a lack of formal education). I don’t see how you can disagree with my point. Toledo has always had a manufacturing intellgence. We were, and continue to be, a better place to live as a result.
But, you have some how concluded that intellect and education are the same thing. I would disagree with that, and I would urge you in the future to make and educated and intellectual argument next time, before you try to argue with me about some nonsense you’ve created in your head. Manufacturing is not the way to go in the future. But we have an opportunity to create a nexis between green energy and manufacturing here. It is people like you, NC, who are holding us back. I do what I do everyday to promote this region. I promote responsible government, and responsible lawmaking. With time, Toledo will succeed. We just need to change some hearts and minds.
April 6th, 2008 at 2:43 am“It is people like you, NC, who are holding us back. ”
Really, do tell?
I was not aware of the great influence that you seem to think that a single person has.
“I would urge you in the future to make and educated and intellectual argument next time, before you try to argue with me about some nonsense you’ve created in your head.”
Ya know, Kurt, I am sure in person you are a decent person but in blogs you do come off, as really harsh and uncompromising when it is just thoughts and ideas.
Like some of the rest, this is the last response I will offer to your thoughts and comments.
