Ohio Civil Rights Commission finds probable cause…
31 Jan 2008
Today at the Thursday meeting in Columbus of the Ohio Civil Rights Commission probable cause was found in the cases of Morehead, Daugherty and Griffin v. The City of Toledo. Shaun Hegarty reported on the story at 10:00 p.m. on Fox Toledo. It was reported that the Mayor has stated he will fight the charges…more will follow.
Do ya suppose that the evidence was so compelling that they really didn’t need to ask the principal accused? Wow!
Of course he’s going to fight the ruling. The real issue then becomes that by fighting it, the media attention is protracted and more harm will be done to the reputation & image of Toledo. Sound business move …..
January 31st, 2008 at 11:33 pmAccording to the Civil Rights Commission, Dwayne Morehead was the victim of retaliation and is able to travel through time.
How do you miss an obvious error like that in the first sentence?

The alternative is to quietly and peaceably find a solution and settlement and have the agreement admit no finding of guilt and just make the situation go away.
And also interesting is why is the chief executive of any city so involved in matters related to a dismissal. There is staff charged with the duties and the dismissal could have and should have been handled through channels and avoid all this mess.
February 1st, 2008 at 6:08 amThey found probable cause in retaliation NOT racism. For the mayor to “appeal” the charges that is a normal process in work places when there’s certain part of the findings that is labeled in probable cause and other findings to be no probable cause.
So it’s not the end of the world. There will always be civil rights complaints everywhere you go and anytime.

I have been thinking, can a person act in a way or have policies that appears to be racist and not be a racist him or herself.
Improper employment termination is one thing, but, with the civil rights commission involved there will always be the cloud of racism.
February 1st, 2008 at 6:40 amI think this needs to be fought to the bitter end, else there will be even more frivoulous complaints.

NC… Yeah, I think this is probable. Appearence and interpitation can be be compelling arguments. It’s been my experience with some people of a certain generation, are not actually racist as defined. Rather, they are transitional members of society that have been born into the end of the truely racist generation and spend their time in life caught between what was and what is.

Has there ever been a generation or time, when racism of some sort did not exist?
It is alive and well and living amongst us, now.
February 1st, 2008 at 11:05 amRacisim is among us here and there are still places elsewhere in the USA that are as bad or worse. However, I have lived in several other states and cities that we’re 80% racisit free. There will likely always be some precentage of racisits around the world. It’s the fallen nature of man to have it in the first place. However, as generations are passing and lifestyles have changed, racisim while still a scourge to humanity, doesn’t rule the hearts of mankind like it once did.
All we can really do is work tirelessly to not teach our children and grandchildren to think, speak, act in this way and hopefully over the next 50 years it can be reduced to a very tiny segment of the population. It’s like any other cancer, we just have to keep treating it and seaching for the cure.
If we humans really understood the true meaning of the word “Love”, we’d never be able to hate someone based on the color of their skin, the place of their birth nor the culture. Society is sick in many ways. Sadly, this is one of them.
