Barbara Sears and Mark Wagoner sworn in…
From the Blade, Sears sworn in as Lucas County’s newest state representative:
The game of legislative musical chairs that began with the death of Congressman Paul Gillmor in September was completed today when Barbara Sears was sworn in as Lucas County’s newest state representative.
A couple of hours later, the man she replaced, Mark Wagoner of Ottawa Hills, took the oath as the newest senator representing the 2nd District.
House Republicans didn’t bother with a screening committee to interview candidates to replace Mr. Wagoner in the 46th House district representing the western Toledo suburbs.“She was the only who filed for (election to) the seat,’’ said House Speaker Jon Husted (R., Kettering). “We just felt she’s the only one eligible for run for election. We didn’t have anyone else inquire, as far as I know.’’
Sears is expected to face Democrat Darlene Dunn in November.
I met Darlene Dunn and she seems really great. Of course, I am not totally unbiased… Barbara Sears is the ex-wife of my cousin Gary Sears.

See, I knew I didn’t know what I was talking about and felt bad about it – I knew it was one of my cousins (and I believe Gary went through a divorce, also?). At any rate, I certainly am not entitled to pass judgment based on what I don’t even know – we have too much of that in politics and I work hard to avoid it. My sincere apologies.
