Halloween Edition of Toledo Free Press & Blog it…
This week’s Toledo Free Press is horror bound, from the Blog it! Toledo to the font used for the print edition. A few of my favorites this week included some costume suggestions from Michael Miller, some safety tips from Thomas Pounds and some myth busting from Karl Rundgren. The cover story on Elvira is a highly enjoyable read.
For those looking for something without monsters or ghouls, Lucas County Commissioner, Ben Konop has a guest piece among all of the information you could possibly need to make this Halloween the best ever. I really recommend picking up a copy of the print edition to get the full enjoyment of the “Halloween decorating” in this week’s edition.
Tonight is also the debate for Toledo Public School Board candidates sponsored by the Toledo Free Press who are partnering with Fox Toledo and WTOD that I’ll be live blogging.
Hopefully this isn’t too off-topic – has anybody noticed the commercial on TV regarding Kroger putting their circular back in the Blade? I know that the Free Press’ circulation leaves something to be desired, I think we’ve received it maybe 60% of the time since they started home delivery. One week our whole street was littered with them, the delivery people never even put them in the driveways or yards. So if people are getting the Free Press, they’re not getting the Kroger ad either.
October 22nd, 2007 at 5:49 pmOn the same subject, we’ve had minimal delivery, something less than 40% I would estimate, and nothing for the last few weeks at all.
Which makes me suspect that that other “newspaper” is not above planting ringers in its competition to sabotage their best efforts from within.
It’s been done before. . .
On the plus side, I read “the Free” EVERY Friday, faithfully, on line, of course
I browse that other newspaper.
October 22nd, 2007 at 6:10 pmI did get the Free Press for a couple weeks, then I was just getting the Kroger and Meijer ads.
October 23rd, 2007 at 12:37 pmI heard Michael Miller address this last week on WSPD, and he stated that they were taking over their own circulation and distribution, after previously sub-contracting it. That new program should be coming on-line in the next couple of weeks.
This is a huge step, so it may take them a bit of time to get completely up to speed. It is however, very much the right thing to do.
October 23rd, 2007 at 12:59 pmI received the full paper the very first week, after that I had nothing for quite a while and finally ended up with just the inserts.
I moved 2 weeks ago and haven’t received even the inserts. I figure it’s because even though the house is physically in Lucas County, my mailing zip is Swanton. I’ll just have to make sure to pick up a copy when I run into town!
