New Arena to be green….
16 Jul 2007
Interesting article in the Toledo Blade this morning on the ongoing plans to build an environmentally friendly multipurpose arena. There is quite a bit of great information out there about the U.S. Green Building Council on their website. I spent some time visiting different parts of the site and learned quite a bit, especially when it comes to LEED, which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. It doesn’t look as if there is a Local Chapter of the USGBC in Ohio, but there is one in Detroit.
Honestly, what does Toledo need a new arena for?
July 16th, 2007 at 2:55 pmThe old Sports Arena where the Storm played hockey got to the point where it needed to either be seriously remodeled or a new arena built. Originally some people wanted it rebuilt on the East side of Toledo but the new arena will be built downtown so that they can market it with the Convention Center. That’s the short version of why it’s felt Toledo needs a new arena.
July 16th, 2007 at 4:29 pmI’m pretty excited about it. Sure, it’s a huge expense, but the new pretty arena could do a lot for the city. I hope that it does for the Storm what it did for the Mudhens!
July 16th, 2007 at 4:49 pmI still think it should have been rebuilt on the east side. I’m glad that they are building a new arena, though.

Economic development, revitalized community, jobs, tourism dollars collateral revenue from the arena..
