The $650,000 light show…

It was pretty, not animated or anything that would make you go *wow* but for a bridge, the lights on the Veteran’s Glass City Skyway Bridge did look nice. Here are a few of the photos before it got too dark for them to turn out well. The flag colors were an interesting display.

I drove by & took a look tonight. I don’t get it. A pillar of light. Whoop-de-doo. I’d rather have the money. I prefer by far the lights on the High Level (they have some style and grace) — and wish they’d fix them.

I thought it looked nice, but I think they should put white lights on the rest of the structure to show the full extent of the bridge at night, otherwise it just looks like a very colorful fallace in the middle of the dark.

Karen and I spent some of the evening down by the bridge, watching the lights, etc. It’s a very nice bridge, but I agree, it needs lighting on the cables to make it really pop.

What I found wonderfull was the turn out of citizens. We saw more people out and about in the downtown area than I have ever seen at one time before. Even the 4th firreworks are what is “Expected”, but what I saw last night was sheer fun.

Families out enjoying an evening together, kids and all. Business doing busiiness for a change, and I felt the “Shared Experience” of it all.

All in all, a great day for me and the Mrs. We started out the day doing 18 holes of golf at Bedford Hills for charity, (cancer research), then home to take care of some pesky lawn details and then out for a romantic evening on the waterfront. For a 30 something couple, this was a fun day

Note Roman holding up his end of the flag in the Sunday Blade. Way to go.

Amy is a fantastic photographer, she was under the flag laying on the ground to get shots of those holding up the flag. It was awesome to see one of the shots of Miguel made it into the paper. She’s the reason I was smiling, she’s amazing to watch and it’s obvious she really enjoys her work.

Part of the additional reason there were so many people downtown was the Jehovah’s Witness events at the Convention Center. I noticed a much larger number of people on Saturday morning and last night so the two events together made it a good day for downtown.

Lights down the span would be awesome but I’m guessing when they decided to go for the LED light show aspect that made lights down the span not included.

I’m glad there were some aerial shots of the flags, I knew how big it was with all of us holding it but you get a new appreciation for the size from the air.

Here’s the link to the pdf that has the picture with Miguel and some other really good shots:
