Pastor Michael Pitts gets top ranking in search terms for blog…

25 Jan 2007

The individual who most people have visited this blog in the past week from search engines besides people looking for me or this blog have been looking for information on Pastor Michael Pitts. I have to admit this was surprising but a large number of area residents have been googling the net using the various terms of “Pastor Michael Pitts DUI”, “Michael Pitts DUI” and “Michael Pitts Toledo”.

The latest news reports on the Pastor Pitts and his possible DUI charges was covered in the Blade on January 17th where it was stated there was some consideration being given to filing a motion to suppress as well as his attorney was doing some research on what some of us who live or drive thru Springfield Township know is a fairly common practice:

The minister’s attorney, Stephen Hartman, said his client might challenge the legality of the stop and search conducted by the Ohio Highway Patrol as well as the validity of the urine test given to measure Mr. Pitts’ sobriety when he was arrested.

Mr. Hartman said he is conducting research to confirm whether police have the right to stop someone’s vehicle when it appears the driver isn’t doing anything wrong in order to check for safety violations.

When my children attended Crissey Elementary it was almost a monthly situation where you would see the Highway Patrol set up at the Fire Station on Crissey Road pulling over vehicles, normally if they saw you did not have a front license plate it was a given you’d be one of the ones flagged in. I’ve also seen this several times on McCord just past Dorr Street. I was told when I asked about this in the past that it was legal, but it would be interesting to see what comes of this and if this is a defense that will be used. According to the last media reports we should find out more February 1st.

Updated: November 10th, 2009 – I’ve had several requests via email to open this thread up to comments, I encourage those who want to share their thoughts to make sure they are aware of the rules of the blog since they have changed since this post was originally written in 2007.

I am so tired of people who have never even walked through the doors of this church spewing venom about a man they have never met….I hope that none of you are ever the brunt of an enitre citys joke for years because God help you if you have a glass of wine and go get a paper!

    LisaRenee Says:

I suppose it would not do any good to point out that normally one glass of wine will not put someone that over the legal limit. Has their been too much focus on his past problems and this one? Probably, but then that’s part of being a public figure, which a church leader is also considered by many to be.

I can’t explain why that many people are searching the internet for information on him, but that was what was happening.

Thanks for stopping by, I had no idea that Pastor Pitts had that many fans from outside of the Toledo area.

I too am sick of people who state opinions formed from bias media reports or garbage. He is the most annointed and awesome minister I have ever had the privilage to hear and has my utmost respect. And MANY of the same people forming opinions on drinking and driving are the same people doing on a regular basis. Just haven’t been caught. I just praise God that Pator Pitts is made up of whatever it takes to stand in the face of adversity and keep doing what God has called him to do.

I guess you really do become what your friends are. A lesson I did not want to hear from my mother, but still hold true. Look at all the people he has associated himself with for years. ie Earl Paulk, Larry Lee, Carlton Pierson, Roberts Lairdon, etc. etc. etc…..

By the way, just because you speak out in truth, it isn’t slander…the bible says it will set you free. And I Am a christian. One that was taught by Michael Pitts himself, for ten long years.

Pull your heads out of the sand people….if it smells like fire, feels like fire, looks like fire, guess what? it probably is FIRE!!!

And by the way, everyone that leaves is not “off” or out of the will of God. Our lives did not fall apart.

I think you also become what your deeds are. And pastor pitts, over the years, has been publicized for some nasty deeds.

This all reminds me of ‘bish’, wonder how he is doing?

The ‘bish’ can only dream of such “greatness” and riches as pitts has achieved. That is probably why the ‘bish’ ALSO has his cathedral in a strip mall.

I think he took a liking to the place during his last hunting Safari in Africa.

I think the last folks he would want to know would be the congregation. Don’t want to stir the people up, it may adversely affect the value of the business before he is ready to cash in.

  15. 16

You must be talking about “robert pitts” the brother, not the actual pastor then. Pastor Pitts’s rumor about moving to Africa is a hoax.

    seer Says:

Not to keep this going. But i couldn’t help not to reply after reading everyone’s comments. I belonged to Cornerstone and extensively served there for several years. When i first started, the church was on fire. MP will always be known as one of the most gifted ministers I know…Never would have seen myself leaving..ever. I used to judge others who did and thought they were “off” or offended. It has deeply saddened my heart to have had to walk away from my house of worship. We will never know MP’s heart, so we cannot judge it. However, the Word says that “you will know them by their fruit”, not by their gift. Pray for him, his staff and the members of the church, that’s all i can say. Things there are not as they appear.

For those of you who attend there, but are struggling with leaving: All i can say is that the Spirit of God is not the author of all the confusion. Staying at a church because “there’s no where else to go” is not exercising your faith in the One who leads you. 1) Pray that the things that bind you mentally, emotionally and spiritually be broken. 2) Pray that your spiritual eyes will be open to see the truth. ~It’s always easier to believe what you WANT to be true, than to believe that the “unthinkable” is the truth.

KNOW THAT THERE IS LIFE AFTER CORNERSTONE AND THERE ARE MANY, MANY PEOPLE PRAYING FOR YOU! THERE IS A PURPOSE TO EVERYTHING. I will always appreciate all the wonderful things I learned there. Sometimes in life, you have to recognize when a season has served its purpose and when it is over. And by the way, since Christ is your covering – bad things DO NOT happen to you when you leave C-stone, they only get better because of your obedience. (Acts 7:3) **Read the book “Letters to a Devastated Christian” by Gene Edwards**

    Elmer Gantry Says:

I agree with the above post and too…had an “inside view”. Sadly, we left after the last DUI and were treated about as bad as you could be. The mishandling of the five pastors who’ve left since (network and the main church), as well as the infamous “rats and snakes” message is unbelievable. To watch good members being villianized by MP and RP from the pulpit was more than we could stand. Now they are attempting to do the same to the children’s pastor and it disgusts me. All that man did was serve God faithfully along with his family, and build a world class children’s ministry. Anyone who served with him knows the lowdown. Its been sad to watch how far the place has fallen. But with this type of leadership…telling people not to talk with those who’ve chosen to leave, villianizing good men and women of God and treating people so poorly…it’s no wonder. My prayer is people will wake up and realize the love for people has left the building.

    seer Says:

Elmer…I just want to let you know that I’m praying for you today. All of us have been hurt so deeply… We gave MP and RP unlimited grace over the years and stood by them through it all…then to find out that grace wouldn’t be extended back to us. I’m fine now, but I know that there are others who are not and may need our support and prayers (now more than ever).

~Pastor Ken Vanhoose, Larry Mack, Nick Cook, Dennis Carey, David Martinez and Richard Maus. These are Godly men who deserve to be thanked and recognized for all their years of service and dedication! Even though this blog probably isn’t that place…but I will say it for whatever it’s worth. You are appreciated and loved for every message, every prayer, and every moment you took the personal time to encourage us!

  29. 30
    Elmer Gantry Says:

Well said seer! All great men of God who have chosen to serve Him rather than the Pitts bros. Its sad for me to think people outside the church believe its only MP and RP while people stay. We stayed due to a few of the great men mentioned above! Hopefully, the people remaining will see through the fog and leave. Once you get away for a few weeks, you feel a wonderful release. I pray others will be strong enough to leave as well.

    mstoop Says:

After moving across the US to attend cornerstone for several years I was saddened to learn that my family and children were “BAMBOOSELED”. Tithing thousands yearly to a church that is ran by two smooth, conniving, money hungry, alcoholic, (and yes I am going there) “allegedly” DRUG USERES.

Many of the pastors there or should I say were there; I believe they were true honest good men of God that were caught up in the “Snake” and the “Rat‘s” trap. Seems like almost all the true men of God (associate pastors) have left and been treated like ten year old garbage while other members are exalted and being used on platform while having affairs and children with other men’s wives. That’s right, I went there. You too know it’s true, and why this has been swept under the rug is beyond me. Other people have been “EXCOMMNUNICATED” for asking questions that were not allowed or for less than that. What’s good for the goose should be good for the gander.

Next I have personally seen the ”Snakes’ ” drunken behavior. So I must ask, not out of curiosity but to see if anyone else has any more information, WHAT ABOUT DRUG USE? COCAINE? Ask the “Rat”. Anyone wondering all facts about why little sis isn’t in the click anymore? May I say she and her husband are fine people.

Back to the money. Do all ex and present members know where all of your cash and change is nightly emptied into? Could it be the greedy pockets of the “Snake” and the “Rat“? No evidence you would think, right? Wonder if any of the ushers are willing to talk? Maybe a few still feel threatened by the “Snake” and the “Rat”. I have learned the hard way to ALWAYS write a check!

So to end this sad sad but true “sermon” about ’”The Snake and the Rat” I will say………Please repent and ask for Gods forgiveness. Many souls are being lost in the name of greed and hypocrisy. While people are dying and going to hell others are lining their pockets.

Note to Pastor Mac, Pastor, Martinez, Pastor Van Hoose, Pastor Carey, Pastor Maus, Coach Cook, and many many more: You are greatly loved and missed. All your hard work and dedication did not go unnoticed or unappreciated. LET GOD BE TRUE AND EVERY MAN A LIAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Elmer Gantry Says:

mstoop…at least you figured it out. Many are still drinking the Cornerstone Koolaid and doing what they’re told to do! Wow…I didn’t hear about the affairs and babies until I was there about five years. I dismissed it at first then when the evidence is in front of your face…you’re forced to deal with it. MP and RP are pretty bold to think they can flaunt all this in the face of God and get away with it. Sure…you can hide it from man for awhile, but in the end…well, we’re seeing what happens.
Hey mr T…does all the above have to be true to be bad? Drugs…who knows that one…but the other items mentioned are valid. The lump under the rug is too big to hide anymore. And how do you account for the hundreds of people who’ve left since the DUI of “06″? Think about all the good men and women of God who’ve left and why. I tried for two years not to believe what I heard and saw, but in the end it was way too much. These two men started out with good intentions, but, in my opinion gave into the power and money as evidence by the controlling comments, expensive cars, bling and non stop calls for $100 offerings. When MP was under fire for the last DUI and had the audacity to stand on God’s stage and call for “those who stand with me…I want you to come up on stage and give $100…I’ll shake your hand and look you in the eye!…Whose with me?” That’s one way to pay for the laywer bill. What about holding Pastor’s to God’s standards…where did that all go? All the pastors who’ve left can’t be wrong.

It is a true shame that this cult was allowed to grow to the size that it has.

I think the success of Pastor Pants and his brother indicates the level of desperation that is present in our modern-day society in Toledo.
These crooks fill a void in the lives of people that are desperate for something positive to believe in. It certainly isn’t these two.

Hopefully they both will somehow be criminally charged and indicted over issues connected to this money-grab.

    seer Says:

“I will never use this platform for my own agenda.” MP

He has always stated, “I will never be able to have a personal relationship with you…I’ll never be over for dinner…familiarity breeds contempt…so you’ve got to know me by the spirit.” I spent over a decade “knowing him by the spirit”…so little by little as “something else” started taking over…you didn’t think we’d pick up on it? I KNOW my shepherd’s voice, but this person I do not recognize. Where is the young man in the grocery store on Saturday night trying to invite people to church? Where are you?

All of mstoop’s comments…unfortunately have real validity and them some. Bottom line, it’s not whether or not “all the rumors” are true…the real question is are they building God’s Kingdom or their own? I’ll go further, if you are a member…ask God whether you should continuing giving. I know as I was writing out my own tithe check…God specifically spoke..”do not give another dime to this ministry”. Even though I had countless confirmations prior to that, I guess you could say “the buck stopped there”. How can you struggle with what the will of God is when HE is the one exposing things and removing quality ministers?…but hindsight is always 20/20, right Elmer?… Perhaps the real struggle is in facing the reality that you’ve been worshipping the “idea of something or someone” ..instead of God. This church has turned into the very thing they were always against…a religious system of control. Here’s another hint: a false prophet always predicts that rain is coming..there are always clouds, but never any rain. Always a new season, but no fruit to bare witness of it. The moral of the story is: “Don’t mishandle the anointing and abuse the power you have been given.” Throwing money at something isn’t going to fix this one.

  35. 36
    Elmer Gantry Says:

Well stated Seer…I’m sure MP started off on the right path and has been stuck in a maze of power and money for a while now. I’m hearing they’ve now stooped to asking for people to give on their credit cards if they don’t have any money! Unbelievable. The well may finally be drying up.

I attended C Stone Church back in the late 1990’s and was Michael Pitts right hand man for several years aiding him in his travels. I left along with a few other notable leaders at that time as my eyes had been opened to some doctrinal errors along with the authoritarian style of rule which was very controlling of people. If you were at the Church back then, you would know who I am.

I have, nor will I ever speak any evil of Michael Pitts but I will say that I undeservingly was black balled like everyone else, accused of having mental problems, and EVERYONE turned their back on me in leadership, even those at the Lima Church where I also was the ministry assistant for a few years.

This was an amazing reaction to me simply asking questions about “covering” doctrines and the practice of tithing versus grace giving. They called everyone I was associated with and instructed them not to speak with me from that day forward. What was hidden was coming to light very quickly and was surreal in alot of ways.

Leaving this Church was the best thing that ever happened to me although it took several years to deprogram the mind from all of the false doctrines that had been engrained for so many years.

To echo the others that have left the camp, there is indeed life outside of Cornerstone and your blessing has nothing to do with YOU or a PASTOR but rather the sacrifice of Christ Alone.

Over the past year or so, Larry Mack, Bo Salisbury, Dennis Carey all left the fold and called me to get an understanding of what one goes through mentally during the transition out of the camp. They are all good people with great hearts and it hurts me to see the way they were treated by MP and RP. I wish them the best….

If anyone would like to talk to me concerning life outside the camp…feel free to ping me back in this forum. In the meantime, i would like to get a hold of David Martinez if anyone has his contact info that would be great….

One of the main things I had to ask myself when my eyes were opened was:

What was it in me that was attracted to this type of system? Not what is in Michael Pitts or whoever, but what was it in me that was dysfunctional that was attracted to that type of dysfunction and authoritative controlling type of environment.

See, we can’t change others, we can only change ourselves and that takes self-awareness and a willingness to say, I need to change some things in me so that I am not attracted to dysfunctional organizations like Cornerstone or World Harvest or Potters House or you name it….in the future.

I had to get honest with myself and not point one finger at Michael Pitts and see that I was pointing three fingers at me at the same time.

This is a very different way of looking at things but I found this to be the way out and into freedom and healthy relationships with people and communities.

I had to humble myself and realize like spirits attract like spirits and let God open me up for some serious mind renewal and heal the insecurities and dysfuncations so I could be attracted to healthy communities from here forward.

I hope this makes sense to everyone here. You can’t change Michael Pitts or anyone else even if you show them plain as day scripture because they are in strong delusioned states of mind. Focus on you and changing you and fall on the Rock by self-initiative rather than having the Rock fall on you because of stubborness and pride.

And pray for them away from them….

God has not given unto us a spirit of FEAR, but one of Power, Love, and a Sound Mind.

I encourage all to rise up in this hour and appointed season to use the avenue of the internet to expose, tear down, and rip the roots up of any and all minsitries that control, manipulate, preach false doctrines, and try to scare people from telling the TRUTH by stating, ignorant out of context verses from the old contract like “Touch not thine annointed and do my prophets no harm”.

Here goes the truth of the New Contract which has made the old one obsolete. Jesus fulfilled the Old Contract terms for us because we NEVER could ourselves. There is no room for boasting, HE DID IT ALL, ONCE AND FOR….ALL…

There is no more Moses leadership, Kings ruling over people, Solomons Temples and Robes and Inner and Outer Courts…He rent the veil and made ALL ANNOINTED Kings and Priests and we are to serve one another out of love and equality and humility.

I don’t care about your titles, your cars, your goofy circus outfits, buildings, staff, celebrity members, ability to scream stuff and pray like an idiot to impress people.

There is no more tithing, there is giving from your heart as God leads you. There is no more God talks to Moses first and then Moses tells everyone a nice story with all kinds of scriptures out of context, it’s over….God put HIS SPIRIT in every heart and all can hear from the Lord now…

It is amazing to me how much we revert to the Old Contract that is fulfilled by Jesus. In doing so, we insult the spirit of Grace. We trample the blood of Jesus under our feet every time we drop that dime in the bucket and believe that through OUR OWN EFFORT OF GIVING A DIME we are now Blessed and if we don’t we are cursed.

That verse in Hebrews has nothing to do with personal sin and everything to do with you thinking you are justified by your works after you have received the message of Grace Alone. No man can bless you, only God can, ask Abraham about it.

The covering doctrine is a witchcraft jezebelic doctrine to control and manipulate people. Period. Wherever you see this doctrine and teaching, Jezebel has set up camp and will start to poison everything in that ministry until she destroys everything.

You know that fear and intimdation you feel right before you make posts on the internet of wanting to tell the TRUTH? That fear that makes you feel like staying anonymous…yea…that one that your feeling right now. LOL. Welcome to the world of Jezebel who wants to shut up the prophets who speak the truth…

How can you tell a true prophet. THE SPIRIT OF PROPHECY IS THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS. Prophets like John the Baptist point to Jesus, give glory to Jesus, and reveal the redemption plan of Jesus. They don’t knock people down on the floor or tell you about your going to be a CEO and have lots of money and play with your fleshly desires to get a special offering and buy a new flashy watch.

I summons the spirit of Elijah to rise up in this hour and pull down this spirit of Jezebel. Cast off your fear and intimidation and know that you are not alone, even though you feel like it sometimes, God has reserved many for this calling, don’t be afraid to tell the Truth and stand up for God instead of a man that hoodwinks you every week with some mesmerizing message with twisted scriptures.

Its over for this…people are getting hurt and taken advantage of every day in these systems. We have the power if we never show up and pay the hirelings….we really do folks….stop showing up to the circus…

    Help Please!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been going to Cstone for about ten years. Over the years I have felt in my spirit something was wrong, but blamed myself for feeling this way. Michael Pitts always preaches that Cstone is your covering, but the WORD says JESUS is the covering. Cstone also preaches “Breaking Covenant” will bring curses into your life because you do not have Cstone to protect you. I thought JESUS was our Covenant & Protection? I do not know if I am suppose to leave or stay at Cstone. I am having a hard time hearing from GOD on this matter. We are told not to speak to people who leave the CHURCH, but are they not our brothers and sisters in CHRIST? I need some advise how to hear from GOD on this matter because I am completely lost.

    Dazed and Confused,

Hopefully in a few months you can change this name to Happy and Free. I think you already know the answers to your questions, you are just dealing with what its going to cost to exodus and that can be fearful thing.

I would highly recommend you get a hold of wise counsel, above your post, to help you through this season and be a support without judgment while you make the transition out and into a real realtionship with Jesus not through a man.

There is ONE mediator for you, the Lord Jesus Christ. We are the BODY and HE IS THE HEAD. We are all able to access the throne of grace and truth, not just a few people with catchy titles and slick marketing strategies.

Be encouraged and work on you when you transition. Ask yourself why you were attracted to this style of ministry and get rid of that in you so you don’t cycle back again. Remember, the prison is in the MIND no matter where you are at physically.
