Viva Las Jesus?

08 Dec 2006

That’s the title of this week’s cover story over at the Toledo City Paper. It’s a different way of looking at religion, I have to honestly say I’ve never considered “Getting your Jesus on” as form of entertainment. I read the article in full and I found it interesting, while I personally am happy with my present spiritual needs being meet a different way, for me the article gave me an insight into what some of the other area churches are doing and if that works for them, that’s all that matters in the end. If you haven’t read the article, I recommend stopping by.

Thanks for pointing out the article. I don’t get the City Paper often, but I’ll say that this is the best piece of work they’ve done in a while. I am a self proclaimed megachurch expert and have visited many of the churches they described. In my opinion, despite the controversy, Cornerstone has the best music and preaching of any church in Toledo.

I have mixed emotions on Cornerstone. I know people who still attend that feel the way you do and others who have had not great experiences with Pastor Pitt and some of his echelon. My heart lies with St. Joesph’s in Maumee though OLPH is closer in distance. When they build the new St. Joseph’s it’s not going to be the same. Then? I’ll probably go downtown. I know it’s kind of a contradiction given my personality but I really prefer the older churches.

If I were to attend any of these churches, I would miss the Hell fire and brimstone.

I’m kind of a traditionalist that way.
