Port Authority in talks with City to buy parking garages and meters

Untitled-1Reported today by the Toledo Free Press — LINK. The Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority has expressed an interest in purchasing the parking garages and the parking meters owned by the City of Toledo that are managed by the Downtown Toledo Parking Authority.

In 2008 the Parking Authority offered the City of Toledo $16.5 million for a 50 year lease on the parking meters and to purchase all three garages. They were planning on using funding in part from the Port Authority to finance the deal. The Finkbeiner administration did not move forward on that proposed sale.

As the Toledo Free Press article references, this would impact the Toledo-Lucas County Housing Fund. Hugh Grefe is quoted in the article.
